It’s the middle of February and summer tans have long faded away. If you’re like me, then your skin has become so pale that nothing seems to look as good on you as it used to. Luckily, there is an easy solution: XEN-TAN products. These tanning treasures are sold at Nordstroms department store (in stores in the beauty department and online) and work miraculously. Their products vary from sprays to lotions depending on your preference as well as accommodate to users’ particular skin tones. I am half-Irish so when winter hits, my skin fades to Casper status! But, using this lotion once a week gives me a warm, healthy and natural glow. No oompa-loompa-orange over here.
Before applying, make sure to exfoliate your face (the rest of the body is not necessary) so that you remove dry-skin. If you don’t do this, the lotion tends to clump around the areas where the skin is not moisturized enough. In order to ease into a natural beach tan, I put regular face lotion on before hand (I use Aveeno) and then apply the lotion once the previous layer has soaked into my skin.
-Try and be extra careful to cover the jawline and the neck so that your face doesn’t look like it shouldn’t be attached to your body.
-Rub it in smoothly so that you can avoid any unwanted streaks!
- When in doubt, use less, not more!!
In addition, spring break is right around the corner and many of you will be working on your tans on a tropical beach (while I sit at home in New Jersey with my dog). I don’t recommend applying too much of this before your trip, but it is amazing to apply when the vacation time starts to wind down. It keeps the tan glowing and makes your skin smell delicious. Give it a go and you will not regret it!
